Buddied tree planting. In addition to the carbon offset credits, we plant 4 trees per tonne of CO₂e offset. We are an official partner of Eden Reforestation Projects, who plant trees to improve livelihoods.
Alongside our tree planting, we also commit to diverting £1 per tonne of CO₂e from every sale to support our free data, tools and resources.
About this Project
The Gold Standard Energy Efficient Transport India project is a Gold Standard Certified carbon offsetting initiative focussed on implementing energy efficiency measures in elevated stations of the Delhi Metro Rail.
This project, covering 160 km of rail and 109 stations, aims to enhance the sustainability of urban transportation in one of India’s busiest cities.
This initiative includes several key measures such as installing solar panels on station roofs to harness renewable energy, adding native landscaping around stations to improve biodiversity and environmental sustainability, and installing LED lighting for energy-efficient illumination.
Furthermore, the use of lightweight stainless steel coaches helps reduce the overall energy consumption of the rail system, and voltage optimisation of equipment ensures that the energy used is more efficient, reducing waste and improving performance.
Benefits of Energy-Efficient Transport Carbon Credits
- Reduced energy consumption
- Native landscaping enhances biodiversity and environmental sustainability
- Voltage optimisation and stainless steel coaches increase operational efficiency
- Reduces greenhouse gas emissions and promotes sustainable urban transport
- Supports local economies through sustainable infrastructure development
Alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals
The Gold Standard Energy Efficient Transport India project is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With benefits in 3 UN SDGs:
- UN SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
- UN SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
- UN SDG 13 – Climate Action
