What is the IC+ Database?

Over the last 20 years, the ICE Database has become one of the most widely used embodied carbon resources globally. However, maintaining and updating the data to modern standards now requires sustained resources, access to high-quality data sources, and ongoing development.

IC+ has been developed as part of a new, more sustainable model, enabling:

• More up-to-date embodied carbon data
• Improved data quality and consistency
• Access to larger datasets and new emissions factors
• More frequent updates

Key Features of IC+

IC+ is being developed to provide:

• Access to 200+ embodied carbon factors, for use in professional calculations, reporting, tools, and software use
• Updated emissions factors aligned with current standards
• Improved consistency across datasets
• Expanded coverage and additional data points
• Compatibility with existing ICE structures to support migration
• A foundation for future development and expansion

Built Upon the Foundations of the ICE Database

The ICE Database will continue as a free resource, but will transition to ICE Database Educational, supporting educational and reference use only.

Non-educational use of the ICE Database will no longer be permitted after 30th September 2026. For commercial applications, including use in calculations, tools, software, and reporting, IC+ will provide a licensed route once available.
