Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has announced the launch of the Coalition for Life Cycle Emissions Alignment and Reporting (CLEAR), a new global initiative aimed at improving consistency and confidence in whole life carbon reporting across the built environment.
Founded by RICS alongside the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the Global Building Data Initiative (GBDI), CLEAR responds to ongoing fragmentation in whole life carbon methodologies that has made comparison, benchmarking, and decision making difficult across regions and markets. The coalition will initially run for three years, analysing existing approaches and working toward a harmonised, globally relevant framework supported by practical tools and technical resources.
With buildings and construction responsible for around 21% of global greenhouse gas emissions, CLEAR aims to strengthen confidence in carbon data and support more consistent reporting to inform both industry and policy.

Circular Ecology welcomes this collaborative effort to improve alignment and clarity in whole life carbon reporting and sees CLEAR as a timely initiative in a rapidly evolving carbon measurement landscape.
