Growth Cohorts: Next Generation Low Carbon Concrete Cohort Entry

Innovate UK has opened a new funding competition to support innovation in low carbon concrete, an area seen as critical to reducing embodied emissions from construction. The programme will invest up to £11.5 million through a two stage process to help UK based businesses develop and scale new materials, products and processes. Applicants selected for the first stage can receive up to £50,000 to develop innovation and growth plans, with the potential to access further funding to support delivery and commercial use.

As concrete remains one of the largest sources of embodied carbon in the built environment, credible evidence on carbon performance will be important for both funding applications and market confidence.

Applications for grant funding under this competition can include life cycle assessments and environmental product declarations as eligible project costs. Dependable life cycle carbon data, including independently verified LCAs and EPDs, can play a key role in evidencing embodied carbon reductions, supporting innovation claims, and strengthening bids for public funding.

If you are considering applying to this competition and would like to understand the costs, timelines and process involved in delivering an LCA or EPD, get in touch to discuss how this evidence can support your application.
