Circular Ecology are delighted to announce they will soon be launching an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) Programme. An EPD is a short document, summarising the environmental impacts of making materials or products. They are based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and include more than just carbon emissions, covering over 20 environmental and resource use indicators, such as those covered in EN15804. They have become an important way for manufacturers and suppliers to display their environmental credentials.
The new EPD programme will allow Circular Ecology to publish EPDs, as the programme operator. It’s being set up in alignment with ISO 14025 on Type III Environmental Declarations. The goal of the EPD programme is to provide high quality EPDs at a competitive value.
Dr Craig Jones, Managing Director of Circular Ecology, said:
“We will be making sure to align with best practices and have strong verification requirements in place, to reduce the risk of low-quality declarations.”
A public consultation on the General Programme Instructions is scheduled to be released in October, with the EPD programme expected to launch in November.
Interested parties and those considering undertaking an EPD for their materials or products are welcome to contact Circular Ecology for further information.
