Carbon neutrality means balancing emissions with equivalent reductions or removals elsewhere, after prioritising real internal cuts. Carbon offsetting (otherwise known as ‘mitigation’) is the practice of compensating for residual emissions through verified projects, while tree planting is one nature based option, though it requires careful scrutiny because carbon storage depends on long term survival, species choice, and proper land management.
