ICE v2.0 Data Notice

As Circular Ecology continue to improve and enhance the ICE Database in ICE v4.1 and beyond, we are reviewing the ICE v2.0 data points that remain. Due to the age and limited reliability of some data in ICE v2.0, it is highly likely that we will phase out access to these material categories in future versions.

Our goal is to ensure that users are working with the most robust and up-to-date information available.

We have also taken the decision to exclude ICE v2.0 from the Machine-Readable format, due to the age of the data.

Below is a full list of the materials that may be affected due to the exclusion of ICE v2.0 data:

  • Brass
  • Bronze
  • Carpet
  • Copper
  • Iron
  • Lead
  • Lime
  • Linoleum
  • Paper
  • Plastics
  • Sealants and Adhesives
  • Soil
  • Stone
  • Tin
  • Titanium
  • Zinc

We’re committed to maintaining transparency during this process and will provide clear guidance for users who rely on older versions. If ICE v2.0 data is essential to your work, or you wish to discuss sponsoring an update to a specific ICE material category, we encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Stay tuned for more information on the ICE Database and what’s changing.

Support the ICE Database

Your support is key to helping the ICE Database remain free, up-to-date and accessible.

Our supporter system recognises organisations that have made contributions to the ICE database, with several levels of support to suit different organisation sizes. You can read more on the supporter system by clicking here.

We’ve also introduced the Scaling Carbon Reductions Initiative to help us influence carbon reductions on a large scale. The primary mechanism of this is to develop, release and maintain free data and resources. Equipping others with the tools requires to measure and manage their carbon. If you’re interested in learning how you can support the ICE Database, please click the button below to find out more.
